Positive Pedagogy Childcare Specialist in Paris

We currently have an opportunity for a bilingual childcare specialist to join our Positive Pedagogy program from September 2023 until July 2024. There will be further opportunities after this period.

The post is for 30 hours a week, Mondays to Fridays, school holidays OFF but paid for. You will earn 1400 euros gross a month + perks.

You will be involved in positive pedagogies such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Pikler-Loczy, Freinet.

BACKGROUND

The early childhood education sector is constantly evolving - adapting to meet the needs of children, families, and professionals, building on the latest research.

The FPE programme offers intermediate training, between the CAP AEPE and the Early Childhood Educator State Diploma (DEEJE). This is a private course for which our students receive a certificate of training (rather than a diploma).

What is Positive Pedagogy?

Positive pedagogy is an approach to childcare that focuses on the importance of responding with kindness and empathy to the needs of children. This approach uses principles of various active pedagogies (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Pikler-Loczy, Freinet...)

This course covers several themes, including:

· Positive and active pedagogy

· The latest research and knowledge regarding child development

· Positive and non-violent communication

· Children’s expression and how to stimulate them through music, art, culture, and nature

· Language acquisition and multilingualism

· Parenting Support

How it works

The course is 10 months long and runs from September to June. Our students are paid to attend classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Classes end around 3:30 pm which is when they put theory into practice and work as a childminder with one of our families from the agency (around 20 hours a week). On Wednesday, they are likely to be working with the families for a whole day. There are usually two mornings off a week, and there are no classes during the school breaks.

We take a blended learning approach which means that there are classes on zoom and in our training center in the beautiful 8th Arrondissement (just by the Champs-Elysées!). There are 5 blocks covered throughout the training :

Block 1: Positioning oneself as a professional and communicating with bienveillance,

Block 2: Implementing active pedagogies while respecting the individual needs of the child,

Block 3: Accompanying the child in their emotions and language acquisition (multilingualism),

Block 4: Accompanying the child in their creativity and stimulation (nature, music, art, culture, body expression),

Block 5: Engaging in solidarity and inclusion as a small-scale childcare professional).

Your progress will be evaluated through group projects, written tests, and presentations.

About you

· Fluent in English and intermediate or above level of French ( B1 upwards)

· Valid visa (working visa or student visa)

· Be at least 18 years old and above

· Have at least 2 Childcare references
